"What is Qigong?" Even my students ask me this question. I applaud them for listening to their hearts and trying something new, and then I share this with them...
Qigong is a practice that invites you to work skillfully with energy. Tai Chi is one school of qigong, the martial form to build strength. Then there are 2 other schools: Medical qigong, which works with your body & energy for your health and well-being, and Spiritual, which helps you foster a connection to your spirit. What I teach is a combination of Medical & Spiritual, although you'll build strength in class too as your body is not separate from your mind and spirit.
Qigong is a movement practice that connects you to your center, provides a firm foundation, and calms your nervous system.
Qigong is a moving meditation, inviting you to participate in inner inquiry and foster your relationship with the wisdom within you.
Qigong provides you with a healthy and safe way to recognize, hold, and work with your emotions.
Qigong invites you into a new relationship with your body through the flowing movements, interaction with your meridians (energy roadways) and myofascial channels, and introduces you to your organs.
Qigong welcomes you into the supportive, open arms of community - with the energy of nature and like-minded people who practice alongside you.
Qigong's benefits are vast, including stress & tension relief, improved sleep, increased energy, immune, lung, & cardiovascular health, hormone harmony, better balance, strength, & flexibility, mental clarity... to name a few. All of which are backed by scientific research.
Want to know the best part? All of these benefits and qualities of qigong are accessible to everyone, no matter who you are or where you are on your life journey. The forms can be done in a chair, modified for all bodies, and the energy is always available to all.
